ACT Government Program
ACT Solar Loan & Finance Options
ACT homeowners have more than one way to finance solar — through the government's Sustainable Household Scheme if you hold an eligible concession card, or through Poly Engineering's own $0-upfront finance options and the federal solar rebate if you don't.
Check Your Options
As of 1 July 2026, standard Sustainable Household Scheme loans no longer cover solar panels for general applicants — solar loans (including zero-interest) remain available specifically for eligible concession card holders. Terms below reflect rules current as of September 2026; always confirm the latest details at climatechoices.act.gov.au.

Can I get a zero-interest solar loan in the ACT?
Zero-interest solar loans through the Sustainable Household Scheme are currently available specifically to eligible concession card holders. If you don't hold an eligible card, we can discuss our own finance options and the federal solar rebate instead.
I don't have a concession card — what are my options?
You can still access the federal solar rebate (based on small-scale technology certificates), which reduces your system's upfront cost automatically. Poly Engineering also offers $0-upfront, interest-free finance through our finance partners.
What's the maximum I can borrow through the Sustainable Household Scheme?
As of 1 July 2026, eligible new applicants can borrow up to $20,000 across the scheme's eligible product categories. Applicants approved before that date remain capped at $15,000 over the life of the scheme.
Can I use the loan for a battery instead of solar?
Yes — home battery storage remains an eligible product under the standard Sustainable Household Scheme loan, even for applicants without a concession card.
How do I know if I hold an eligible concession card?
Eligible cards typically include Commonwealth concession cards such as the Pensioner Concession Card or a DVA Gold Card. Contact us with your details and we'll confirm what applies to you.
