Who We Are

Our website address is: https://polyengineering.com.au. This site is operated by Poly Engineering Pty Ltd ("Poly Engineering", "we", "us", "our"), a licensed electrical contractor and SAA-accredited renewable energy provider based in Sydney, Australia.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Contact Forms

When you submit a quote request or enquiry form on our website, we collect the information you provide — such as your name, phone number, email address, project type, location and any notes about your enquiry. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, and deliver the service you've requested. Contact form submissions are sent to our team by email and may be stored in our email system or customer records for as long as reasonably necessary to service your enquiry and maintain business records.

Comments

If our site allows visitors to leave comments (for example, on blog articles), we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (a "hash") may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies, so you don't have to re-enter these details when you comment again. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last a year. If you select "Remember Me," your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser containing no personal data — just the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after 1 day.

Our website may also use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising purposes — see the Analytics section below.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited that other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content — including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We may use website analytics tools, such as Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking, to understand how visitors use our site and to measure the performance of our marketing. These tools may collect information such as pages visited, time on site, and general location and device information. You can control or disable analytics cookies through your browser settings.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:

  • Trusted subcontractors or trade partners directly involved in delivering your requested service
  • IT, hosting, email and website service providers who help us operate our business and website
  • Analytics and advertising platforms (such as Google), in accordance with the Analytics section above
  • Government or regulatory bodies where required by law

Any third parties we work with are expected to handle your information consistently with this policy.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them in a moderation queue.

For contact form and quote request submissions, we retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry, deliver any requested service, and satisfy our record-keeping, accounting or legal obligations.

If our website allows user registration, registered users' profile information is stored for as long as their account remains active. Users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have submitted an enquiry, left a comment, or hold an account on this site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you've provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, tax or security purposes.

Where We Send Your Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Some of the service providers we use — such as our website hosting, email and analytics platforms — may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Additional Information

How We Protect Your Data

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including secure website hosting, restricted access to customer records, and the use of reputable third-party service providers. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

What Data Breach Procedures We Have in Place

In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will take steps consistent with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) — including assessing the breach, notifying affected individuals where required, and notifying the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

What Third Parties We Receive Data From

Other than automated spam detection services used to screen comments, we do not currently receive personal information about you from third parties.

What Automated Decision Making and/or Profiling We Do With User Data

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Industry Regulatory Disclosure Requirements

Beyond our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, we are not currently subject to additional industry-specific privacy disclosure requirements.

If you believe we have breached your privacy rights, please contact us first so we can investigate. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
